History of Lions Club of Canning City
This is a combination of Lynwoods Districts which was chartered in 1975 and Riverton chartered in 1991. So we are celebrating 38 years of Community service.
The club raised $30,000 towards the St John's Ambulance Station on High Road Riverton due to the need in the expanding suburbs and it became a reality in 1981.
Carols by Candlelight was run for 25 years for the residents of Lynwood and surrounding areas.
Supporting Education Lynwood and Willetton Senior High Schools receive assistance for academic and youth support. Rostrata Primary School has a shade house erected by the club and donations to Ferndale, Lynwood, Parkwood and Orana to name a few.
The Army and Air Force Cadet units have benefited from support from the club over many years.
Tree planting continues in our area with manpower and a sausage sizzle provided.
These are just a few activities that the club is involved in.
